There are (4) categories of syllabus for TRCN EXAM CANDIDATES. Each category has (23) topics all from Education courses like Sociology, Philosophy, Measurement and Evaluation, etc.

Please note.
Topics in the syllabus for TRCN are the same for all categories but the level of understanding and analysis required of you increases from Category (D) to Category (A).
Categories of TRCN exam syllabus
TRCN classify teachers under (4) categories based on their certification.
- Category ‘A‘ (PhD holders)
- Category ‘B‘ (Master degree holders)
- Category ‘C‘ (Bachelor degree holders)
- Category ‘D‘ (NCE holders)

(A) – Doctoral teachers
These are teachers with PhD in Education or PhD in other fields but with any teaching qualification like NCE, PGDE, PDE or PDDE.

These are teachers with M.Sc (Ed) / M.Ed or Masters in other fields but with any teaching qualification like NCE, PGDE, PDE or PDDE.

(C) – Graduate teachers
These are teachers with B.Sc (Ed) / B.Ed or degree in other fields but with any teaching qualification like NCE, PGDE, PDE or PDDE.

(D) – NCE Teachers
These are teachers with NCE or 3-Year Education Diploma in an approved College of Arabic and Islamic Studies or Christian Theological Colleges.

Summary
Teachers on a higher category are to study the TRCN syllabus both for their category and categories under theirs.
This means.
- If you fall under category C, study the syllabus of both your category (C) and category (D).
- If you fall under category B, study according to category (B), (C) and (D) syllabus.
- If you fall under A, study according to categories (A), (B), (C) and (D).
